Plywood is available in a full range of thicknesses, all manufactured with an odd number of veneer layers. Thin options including 3mm and 5mm are lightweight, primarily applied to furniture back panels, decorative veneers, craft liners and simple outer packaging. They are easy to cut and process with relatively low costs.

Medium thicknesses of 9mm, 12mm and 15mm are the most versatile sizes. 9mm plywood is widely used for partitions and cabinet linings; 12mm sheets fit wooden cases and wall underlayment; 15mm panels balance load capacity and cost-effectiveness, extensively adopted for construction formwork and shelf boards in both residential and commercial projects.

Thick plywood commonly comes in 18mm, 21mm, 24mm and up to 30mm, featuring stable structure and outstanding load-bearing performance. 18mm is the top choice for solid custom furniture bodies, while panels of 21mm and above are used for worktops, heavy-duty construction formwork and marine plywood that require high strength. Inch conversions of thickness are usually provided for overseas clients’ convenience.
